TRAVEL WITH A SISTER: The art of traveling with a sister involves having the right attitude and the right destination at the right time of year. Planning a trip to Egypt with my sister, Sara, in February 2009 was the synthesis of good planning, good timing and good luck. Egypt is an amazing place, especially in the company of someone who knows you well and you know all about them, too. Getting to know other people on the trip was much easier in such a fascinating place where East of the Nile was the designated site of the ancient cities and West side of the Nile had the ancient pyramids, graves and famous mummies. Modern Egypt is fascinating and fun as well, from Cairo to the southern end of the Nile River where the Aswan Dam guards one of the cleanest water sources in the world. The people, the animals, the sites, the guides, the guards, the old and new cities built on ancient sites are like seeing a timeline of history unfold before your eyes every day.... more to follow ...
